April 1, 2009 A Gift of Guarantee
Today’s Bible Reading: Judges 11–12; Psalm 50; 2 Corinthians 1
Scripture Focus:
2 Corinthians 1:22 God also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.
Observation:
The Holy Spirit is a gift from God to us. The Spirit lives in our hearts and is a guarantee that we belong to God—he authenticates us as true believers, children of God.
Application:
I rarely think about this amazing gift from God. I know from other Scriptures that the Holy Spirit has a number of roles he plays in my life. Why, then, do I forget about him? It seems to me that the Holy Spirit is an untapped resource, a way to the Father that invites my participation, but does not force it.
Prayer:
Father God, you have given me a good Gift. Open my eyes to the possibilities of walking in the Spirit.
