April 2, 2009 What Smells?
Today’s bible Reading: Judges 13–16; 2 Corinthians 2
Scripture Focus:
2 Corinthians 2:14–16 Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. To the one we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other the aroma of life leading to life. And who is sufficient for these things?
Observation:
The knowledge of God is a fragrance that produces a reaction. Some will react with longing and be drawn to it and be saved. Others will shrink from it and continue on the pathway to death.
Application:
Like Paul asks, “Who is sufficient for these things?” How can I, a mere mortal, be the fragrance that brings healing and wholeness and life to someone? Only God can do it through us. He can lead me triumphant in Christ!
Prayer:
Father God, I want to be a fragrance instead of a smell or stench.
