April 3, 2009 Something To Sing About

Today’s Bible Reading: Judges 17–18; Psalm 89; 2 Corinthians 3

Scripture Focus:

Psalm 89:1 I will sing of the mercies of the LORD forever;
With my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all generations.

Observation:

This verse gives me a wave of nostalgia whenever I read it because in my childhood I often sang a chorus based on these words. It was a fun chorus to sing (still is) but I think I have more understanding now that I’m older. You see, I have many more years where I have seen God’s mercy and faithfulness at work.

We aren’t not meant to keep quiet about what God has done for us. Not at all. We’re to sing about it and make it known to ALL generations.

Application:

It’s especially important that the younger generation coming behind me hears the stories of God’s faithfulness and mercy. Stories like these build trust and faith in a God who will, indeed, be faithful.

Application:

Father God, remind me of the times you’ve been faithful and merciful to me, and help me to tell the stories to others.
