May 8, 2009 God Is My Guide
Today’s Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 15–16; Psalm 32; Matthew 25
Scripture Focus:
Psalm 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will guide you with My eye.
Do not be like the horse or like the mule,
Which have no understanding,
Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle,
Else they will not come near you.
Observation:
God has promised to be my guide, my instructor, my teacher. This presupposes that I’m headed into new territory. No fear. God has been there before. He will lead the way IF I will accept his leading. If I’m stubborn, like the horse or mule, and resist God’s guidance, I will lose out.
Application:
Don’t make God come after me with a bit and bridle, like a horse or mule whose instinct is to go their own way. Willingly bend to his gentle hand and he will lead me with his eye.
Prayer:
Abba Father, may I look into your face for the glance that tells me what I should do next.
