Today’s Bible Reading: Proverbs 25–27; Romans 15

Scripture Focus:

Proverbs 25:11 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold
In settings of silver.

Observation:

In the last 24 hours I’ve focused quite a bit on words. Last night in our small group we watched an episode of a video course on Peacemaking, and it was amazing to see how much our words play into the problems we encounter in our relationships. Then today I worked on the marketing copy for one of my CDs. Again, I was amazed at the power of words. Allison and I deliberated over every word to make the copy clear and compelling. One word could make such a difference.

Proverbs 25:11 states it so beautifully: A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver. I’d be hard pressed to improve a single word in this proverb!

Application:

My words are powerful. Make them life giving.

Prayer:

Father God, I want my words to honor you today. May they be apples of gold in settings of silver.
