August 8, 2009 Living Water
Today’s Bible Reading: Jeremiah 1, 2; John 10
Scripture Focus:
Jeremiah 2:13 “ For My people have committed two evils:
They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters,
And hewn themselves cisterns—broken cisterns that can hold no water.
Observation:
The people of God are so fickle. We’re always looking for greener pastures, something better, when we have the best right in front of our noses. God is like a fountain of living water to us, freely given. Why try to dig out our own broken cisterns?
Application:
Take advantage of the living water God so freely gives you. Be refreshed by it, and don’t start to look around for something you can dig up on your own.
Prayer:
Father God, thank you for the living water you are to me—life giving, refreshing, and freely given!
